Amygdala

The amygdala is a paired core area of the brain in the medial part of the respective temporal lobe. It is part of the limbic system. The name of the amygdala (technical plural: amygdalae) is derived from its appearance from the Latin amygdala, this from ancient Greek ἀμυγδάλη ‘Mandel(kern)’.
